Mo Bags

I have been busy the past few weeks making up some handmade goodies for the next Suitcase Rummage this coming Sunday the 7th of November at King George Square. I have plenty of Mo Bags, Mo's on Sticks, Mo Badges for Movember and I'm happy to say some new Christmas stock. I have made up some festive fabric bunting and a limited number of Christmas Gnomes for sale.

I will post some more pics in the coming days of what I think will be some great stocking fillers.

Sunday Morning.

This morning I went along to Brown Owls and was lucky enough to have the opportunity to dabble in screen printing. It was all thanks to the lovely Ellie from Red Seed Studio who was good enough to open up her studio for us to learn the basics.

It was a great morning where we were all able to create our design, cut out the stencil and then screen print onto anything we happened to bring along. As you can see from the pictures everyone designs turned out great. Can you pick mine? It was great to learn a new craft and it was something that I have always wanted to try. Ellie has started screen printing workshops in her studio and you can find out all the information here on her website.

It recently came to my attention that a great new online magazine has recently been launched and it is made right here in Brisbane! Their first issue is online now and the Movember issue is out next week. Enjoy!

My Creative Space...

This week I decided to get stuck into some Christmas projects which I have had on the back burner ready to sew. I decided to make some festive bunting this year and some Christmas Gnomes which I hope to have some pictures of soon.

I'm not sure if you are like me but normally I have all the best intentions leading up to Christmas but then life kicks in and inevitability things fall by the wayside. I decided to start early this year much to the dismay of my husband who was quick to point out that I am always the first to start ranting about shops putting out their Christmas stock four months early. However when it comes to hand making stuff for Christmas I think I have an excuse. I am also hoping to make up some Christmas stock to sell at the December Suitcase Rummage, so that is always a great motivator.

I just thought I would share a few shots I took over the weekend. After a huge few weeks of rain, Brisbane woke to a beautiful weekend. We were lucky enough to have hundreds of little surprises waiting outside in lawn once the rain had cleared...

I think(?) they are lily's planted by the previous owners. I have never seen them actually flower.

I also finally had the chance to take some pictures of my new Olivetti typewriter. I was lucky enough to come across this beauty in my travels last week and I'm happy to report it still works perfectly. I could not resist finding the theme song to Murder She Wrote on You Tube and then sitting down to type away (yes i really am that sad! ). There is something so therapeutic about typing away on these old machines and being able to leave little notes for my husband to stumble across.

How the week ended.

Today I was lucky enough to come across this video from the people at How It Should Have Ended. You can check out their awesome pop culture inspired videos on their website or on You Tube. I must admit I am not normally one to trawl You Tube watching videos but these ones just made me laugh.

All their videos revolve around how movies/TV shows should have ended . The Twilight one is hilarious but the Inception one below would have to be my favorite.

Musical Musings

Today I thought I would share some new music that has been on high rotation on my iPod at the moment (believe me office job + iPod = sanity kept).

I have really been enjoying the Scott Pilgrim Soundtrack. It was such an awesome movie and the soundtrack is full of all the great tracks from Scott's band Sex Bob-Omb in the movie.


Following on in the soundtrack vein (I must admit I am a sucker for a good movie soundtrack) is Kick-Ass. Now I know I am probably a little late getting on the band wagon for this movie and all its awesomeness but after seeing it recently I just had to get the soundtrack. I love the fact that it has all the best lines from the movie ala Pulp Fiction soundtrack at the start of particular songs. The Batman signal bit makes me laugh every time.

Surprisingly there is a song from Pretty Reckless who you might know is the band of one sullen, black eyeliner wearing blondie from Gossip Girl aka Taylor Momsen. I find myself actually really liking their song Make Me Wanna Die and on closer inspection their album on iTunes is not that bad. Although I must admit when I heard their latest offering on Nova the other day I actually thought it was a new song from Pink. H mm go figure. Another stand out song is Can't Go back from Primal Scream.

Another great Album I bought recently is 'I believe you Liar' by Brisbane born Washington. The album is amazing. Full of great lyrics and lots of great melodies. I was actually luck enough to spy her on the streets on Fitzroy on our recent trip to Melbourne. She was just as cute in the flesh.

The new single from the The Wombats - Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves) has also just landed and the track is great. I can't wait for the new album to be released but for now the single will have to do...

I can't believe its...

October!

Wow has the last month flown or what. I can't believe the Rummage has been and gone again for another month. The "day job" meant that last week was a horrible write off but yesterdays rummage cheered me up and meant the week ended on a happy note.

Thanks to everyone who came out and braved the rain. It was definitely one of those days which could easily have been spent under the doona with a good book. It was my best rummage to date and it is so great to see people enjoying my handmade goodies that I love to make.

The Mo Bags were once again a hit! Now I can't wait to get all geared up for Movember!!
